About Me

My Academic Projects

At our lab, I previously conducted multiple cybersecurity studies and gained extensive engineering experience in Internet measurement, web dataset collection, and malware analysis.

In our earlier flow-based mobile malware detection research, I was in charge of building the Android app dataset with large-scale web crawlers and developing an Android testbench to collect apps’ network traces. Later as a graduate student, I started IoT malware research to apply our successful practices to the IoT field.

While my master thesis was on building intelligence response models for heterogeneous IoT platforms, I’m currently working on investigating uncovered relationships among botnets. All these experience makes me a good perception and distinctive knowledge of Internet security.

My Professional Skills

I’m strongly motivated to learn new techniques and willing to achieve my thoughts through practice. While we used tcpdump and wireshark in our prototypes, I involved state-of-art techniques to achieve online detection in high-speed or embedded environments.

To actively monitor emerging botnets, I created and managed an IoT honeynet system and leveraged active scanning tools to understand vulnerable IoT devices.

Besides all these studies, I always pay attention to existing and latest published vulnerabilities. I learned a lot about their mechanisms and exploits, which further enriched my knowledge of Internet protocols.

Working with my Group Mates

During my cooperation with groupmates, I also developed my data analysis skills and made scripts to mine heterogeneous intelligence. To accelerate our workflow on the SQL-based database, I combined multiple tools with python to extract and analyze the metadata of collected objects. As our group is planning to migrate the data infrastructure to data-intensive platforms, I have learned some basics about Hadoop. I’m strongly willing to learn more about it and ready to develop my skills.

About LOCI@University of Jinan

The Cyber Intelligence Lab (loci Lab) in the School of Information Science and Engineering at the University of Jinan is directed by Prof. Zhenxiang Chen. The lab conducts research mainly on Internet traffic measurement and behavior analysis, mobile network security and privacy issues, and mobile malware detection. Recently, we are focusing on building an automatic and intelligent traffic collection and analysis system and using the network traffic to detect malware behavior.

We are looking for extensive international collaborators and welcome scholars from the world to visit our Lab.
